Course Report 2009/2010
April to September

After the worst winter we have experienced for many a long year, the golf course is now in very good condition for being so early in the season. The greens have recovered well from the scaring caused be the effects of snow mould and other fungal problems and are now rolling well with a good speed.

All of the good comments from members and visitors alike on the condition of the course lead us to the conclusion that the procedures introduced by the committee over the past few years are starting to pay dividends. The investment in new equipment without doubt has helped the green staff achieve their goal in providing the members with a good course.

The drainage work that has been carried out has proved to be successful and the committee intend to introduce a rolling plan. The first stage will be on holes 6,7,10 and 12 a plan of the proposed work has been posted on the notice board in the club house lounge.

A break trench has been dug down the left hand side of the practice area and a 100mm drainage pipe installed. This will help alleviate the problem of water draining from the wood and car park onto the practice area.

The wooded area on the right hand side of the second hole where several dead trees have been felled has now been graded.

Various types of young trees will be planted when the time is right. In conclusion can we ask all members for their patients and understanding when there is work being carried out on the course.

Any work that is planned will be essential and is always for the long term benefit of the golf course.
