This week on the course
Monday 19th November
With only one or two greens needing leaves clearing from them the greens were mowed and the bunkers were raked. We continued to work on the 15th tee levelling out the surface. Following years of heavy play and divoting through the middle area of the tee There was a considerable build up of rootzone which was required to be moved, we used the ford tractor for this to pull the rootzone towards the right hand side of the tee to create a level surface. Work also continued to edge and weed the 9th path.
Tuesday 20th November
The day began, as a lot of autumn days, with leaves being blown from greens and tee areas and later collected from the 1st tee area and the orchard near by. The bins around the course were emptied and checked to see how many require either fixing or replaced, ball washers were also checked and topped up. The levelling of the 15th tee box was finished off with two new sprinklers inserted and is ready for turf.
Wednesday 21st November
The bunkers were checked and raked where required and the greens were switched to remove the morning dew. Work continued on the 9th path. The turf for the 15th tee was delivered ready to start laying on the Thursday morning.
Thursday 22nd November
A quick check of the bunkers and the course was carried out then work continued on the 9th path. The turf on the 15th tee box was put down and completed. The tee box will now be kept out of play until the start on the golf season to allow for the surface to root in and be strong enough for regular play.
Friday 23rd November
Due to a large amount of rain throughout the previous day and night the main greens were too wet for play meaning that we needed to bring the temporary greens into play for the day. The work on the 9th path was continued and a general tidy up around the yard area was required. The verti-drain unit was put on to the back of the tractor in preparation for Monday morning when we will begin to work on the main greens.
